Sean would describe himself firstly in life as a poet, and in his own words, “an inveterate scribbler” since his earliest years. Legendary for using “one thousand words where ten would do” in both his writing and conversation. Sean is quite content both expanding upon, and caressing the syntax, playing with its possibilities, exploring new boundaries. On many occasions in school he would buttonhole his classmates with his lengthy imaginative yarns that could only be assuaged with a published feature or two in the school magazine or his English teacher recommending Sean’s essays to the Year Head’s wife (a lecturer in English Literature) or forwarding his work to local newspapers!
Bitten by the writing bug since his formative years, Sean has notched up an oeuvre of work which includes hundreds of scripts, many screenplays, word games, a collection of irreverent world meanings contained in The Damnable Dictionary; a travel documentary with an esoteric twist, The Bard’s Tale, volumes of dream journals and letters, and lyrics accompanying three hundred pieces of music. Sean has composed thousands of poems, (no worse the quality for the quantity, he hopes!) and feels at his most comfortable with this form. To date, he has had forty poems published in various magazines.
Once considering a career in journalism, Sean has pursued a and richly varied working life as a professional actor, touring musician and stunt performer, since getting his first taste of live theatre aged eight, performing with Scottish Opera, then moving through the Liverpool Drama School as a teenager and completing his Diploma in TV and Theatre Arts with the Liverpool Playhouse in 1994. A life in Repertory Theatre followed, with numerous TV, film and theatre performances, radio and voice-over work, immersive, museum biopics, theatre festivals, combat choreography, Shakespeare workshops, children’s theatre and Murder Mystery; a corpus of work across the UK and Europe with all the major terrestrial and Sky channels, stints with the Liverpool Media Academy and Manchester Film School; even a modeling job playing Ivan the Terrible for the front cover of William Napier’s bestselling novel The Last Crusaders: Ivan the Terrible for Orion Books. A Spotlight actor, Sean has acting agency representation in Manchester, England.
Since 2012, Sean has been a member of Screen and Stage Solutions, a TV and film stunt unit, specialising in armed and unarmed combat, all manner of stunt performance, horse skills and combat choreography for the film and television industry. In recent years the team has worked exclusively with Asylum Pictures, music video companies, Oxford film and Television, Spool Films, the BBC, Channel 4 and 5, and Bollywood, to name a few among numerous appointments.
Sean began playing guitar aged four, and has composed music in numerous rock outfits since a teenager. He is frontman and guitarist with prog-rock band Leafblade, a band for whom he has composed, since 2003. In this time, Leafblade has toured twenty-five countries, have had several recording deals, played at numerous Medieval, pagan and mountain festivals throughout Europe and the UK and been celebrated worldwide on radio and internet. Leafblade’s acclaimed album The Kiss of Spirit and Flesh took five stars in Prog Magazine and won the Album of the Month Award on Amazon, 2013. Sean often recites his own and others’ poetry at Leafblade shows, finding a synergy in the creative weave of words and music, generating a more theatrical atmosphere. The concept music of Leafblade was featured in MythCo Productions 2012 DVD release The Life and Times of the Real Robyn Hoode, written and directed by Mark Olly, in which Sean gets a good acting outing, playing the Man himself!
Leafblade have been delighted to announce a new recording deal with their great friends at MythCo Productions, a company, and spirits with whom, Sean feels a replete sense of ‘home’, lyrical proximity and nearness to, through the sense of broad esoteric philosophy, cultural diversity and Nature Mysticism that MythCo Productions encapsulate. The same hold true for Sean’s poetic output, as a prolific writer: MythCo Productions intent releasing Sean’s first fully published anthology of poetry, beginning what is hoped will be a spiritually uplifting working partnership with MythCo in producing music, scripts and Sean’s beloved stanzas! (If they can grab him when he isn’t scribbling. Strumming, treading the boards or jumping about, that is!)
